Business visas The Schengen Treaty is concerned with the standardisation of the regulations governing the entry and short-term residence of aliens in the territories of states which have signed the Treaty.
Currently, foreign representatives of Portugal will only issue business visas which are in the form of Schengen visas except where the applicant makes it clear that it is only Portugal which he wishes to enter. In order to avoid any risk, he must indicate that he wishes to visit a few states which are participants in the Schengen Treaty.

As a rule, the traveller applies for a visa from one of the foreign representatives of Portugal in the area in which his place of residence is located. To obtain a visa, the foreign representatives of Portugal (an embassy or consulate) will require an invitation from a Portuguese company.
